Coach Tim Blackie (On his knees in the middle) teaches 3rd/4th grade boys the finer points of basketball by making it fun.

Tim Blackie's commitment to Windham Basketball is unparalleled.

Coach Tim Blackie began his involvement in Windham Youth basketball Association (WYBA) about 15 years ago when his own kids were coming through the program.

Coach Blackie's Children are long gone from the program but that hasn't slowed down his involvement.

Pat Moody, a Windham native and a current member of the WYBA Board of Directors said, "Tim came into Windham Basketball scene when I was in middle school so I just missed the opportunity to play for him. He has supported the high school programs and pretty much carried the WYBA program on his shoulders since then. He has a passion for hoops and a devotion to the youth of Windham unmatched in our community."

His involvement dates back to when the basketball program was a part of the Town of Windham's Recreation department. Along with several others, he helped form Windham Youth Basketball a few years ago. He is the President of the Windham Youth Basketball Association. He has coached the 6th grade boys travel basketball team for as long as anyone remembers.

Peter Brown, another member of the WYBA board of directors said, "Tim Blackie's commitment to Windham Basketball is unparalleled."

For three months each winter he spends his Saturdays teaching the K-2 players basic skills with an energy level that excites the town's youngest hoopsters.

Terry McKay, also on the WYBA Board of Directors said, "Tim's goal has always been to help Windham win a Gold Ball (High School State Championship). His tireless efforts have been instrumental in the explosion of the basketball program for kids in town from kindergarten through the eighth grade."

Blackie is quick to downplay his role in WYBA, saying, "I have been there the longest, but I am not the only one who works on it." He pointed out he is only one of the hundreds of volunteers, and one of 15 board members who make the program run.

The Windham Sports Community thanks you Coach Blackie for your commitment to our kids and the Windham Basketball program as a whole.
