WINDHAM SPORTS COMMUNITY
DECEMBER 2007 VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Peter Snow is
the December 2007 Windham Sports
Community Volunteer of the Month.
Snow is the
coach of the 5th Grade Boys Travel
Basketball team. A former High School
Varsity coach he brings a wealth of
knowledge to Windham's youth basketball
players.
The fifth
grade team finished the regular season 9-1
and has won its first two games in the double
elimination tournament in the Freeport
Travel Basketball League. The team is
considered one of the favorites to win the
Championship.
Coach Snow
also took the team to the Scarborough
Holiday Tournament. Despite missing several
players during the tournament to family
vacations and standout Nick Snow to an
injury, he guided the team to a second place
finish.
Snow has
already begun his next coaching stint as
coach of the
MBNATION 11U this spring, which will
be the top 11U team for Maine Hoops,
the top basketball club in Maine. He
brought along four players from his Windham
travel team to gain experience playing at
the next level.
Snow's
dedication extends beyond his official
coaching commitments. He has taken his own
time to teach other Windham hoopsters like
my son Ethan the finer points of shooting
and dribbling which has improved his game
greatly.

His
involvement in Windham Youth Sports is not
limited to basketball. He has often helped
out during the Summer Track program's
practices and was even seen playing goal
keeper so a team of second and third grade
girls could warm up before a game last fall.
Peter Snow's
contribution to Windham's Student Athletes
goes beyond his role as a coach. He shows
genuine interest in the achievements of
every youngster he comes across and
congratulates or encourages them with a high
five and a smile.
Coach Snow
also makes sure that all of his players have
been recognized throughout the season right
here on Windham Sports Pages. He takes the
time each week to call in the scores and
makes sure he mentions different players and
their contribution to the team.
Thank you
Peter for everything you do for our young
athletes.
COMMENTS:
Hey Peter:
Congratulations! You are quite the guy - you
make such a difference in the lives of our
young people. You have such a quiet and
gentle way and the kids really like to work
hard for you and have great respect for you.
You are, indeed, quite an asset to the
Windham Youth athletic programs. Way to go
Peter!
Sincerely,
Izzy S. Booth
