This is just a
fun contest to see who can pick the most
games right. Everyone is invited to sign up
through yahoo. I will be giving away some
t-shirts and it looks like a couple gift
certificates to local restaurants. Don't
miss out, games start this weekend.
WINDHAM HIGH
SCHOOL BASKETBALL
The Windham
High School gym was rocking on Saturday
afternoon as the boys and girls teams both
played in games that weren't decided until
the final seconds.
Firs the boys
played host to unbeaten Deering High School.
After falling behind 19-11 in the first half
Windham closed the gap to two points at
halftime. Windham took control in the second
half and ended regulation tied 47-47.
Deering eventually won 53-47 in overtime.
Windham hosts defending State Champion
Cheverus High School at 7PM Tuesday at
Windham High School. Come out and show your
support for the boys!
The girls
played an equally exciting game the same
afternoon against Scarborough. Riley Graves
hit the game winner at the buzzer! The girls
host Westbrook at 7PM on Wednesday. Come out
and show your support for the girls!

WINTER SPORTS REPORTERS NEEDED
We have people
in place providing great coverage of many of
Windham's basketball teams but we still have
many student athletes who aren't able to
read about their teams or themselves. Please
feel free to send me anything about your
son's or daughter's team if you haven't seen
any coverage on them yet. One concern I hear
a lot is "I am afraid to leave a player out
of the story" There are several ways to
handles this. We can always list the team
roster. Another way that has been very
effective in the past is to keep track of
who has been written about and make sure
that over the course of the season each
student athlete on the team gets recognized
for the contributions to the team.

There are new Windham Sports
Pages and Friendly's Restaurant Athlete of
the Week coming soon. We need
your help selecting new student athletes
year round. Remember it isn't always the
athlete who hits the winning shot. It might
be someone who has overcome odds to achieve
more than they thought they could or a role
player who silently contributes week in and
week out.

The forums are
back! I hope all of you will join me there
to discuss your favorite sports, teams and
athletes. I am also looking for more people
to help moderate the forums to make sure it
is a safe place for everyone to visit and
participate.
