BOYS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT GIANT SLALOM CLASS A
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Alpine States 2008
The drama
started with the first run of the boys
Giant Slalom at Black Mountain in
Rumford on Tuesday, February 19th. It
was a new course but the snow was still
soft since the temperature had not
dropped below freezing the night before
and it was way above freezing all day.
There were cross ruts from the girls who
had raced two runs in the morning.

Matt Butler
became the first individual State
Champion in Windham's five year old
Alpine Skiing program when he captured
the 2008 Giant Slalom Class A State
Championship on Tuesday February 19,
2008.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH:
I need your help! I know I am asking for a
lot of help lately. The truth is I can't do
this site alone. Like everything else in
life it takes time. This task should be an
easy one though. Each month we recognize a
person involved with Windham Youth Sports
and thank them for their hard work in
helping to make youth sports possible. We
have recognized four people so far which is
great, but there are hundreds of hard
working volunteers out there who all make
key contributions to the leagues that all of
our children participate in.
We know that they don't do it for
recognition or to receive an award. That
doesn't mean that we as a community
shouldn't step up and say thank you to those
we feel go the extra step to create positive
learning environments for Windham's Student
Athletes. Please go here and fill out the

boys wanted to hear. They placed second

Valley was the location for Edward
Little's "fun slalom race" on February
12th. Windham boys posted a huge WIN
against some of the best alpine teams in
the state.

SUPPORT THE 5th GRADE BOYS TRAVEL
BASKETBALL TEAM
The 5th grade boys team is playing
at 11:10AM on Sunday March 2nd at
the Freeport Middles School. The
team went 9-1 during the regular
season and is still in the winners
bracket of the double elimination
tournament. They have a tough
matchup against Topsham and can use
all the fan support they can get.
