The playoffs
started over the weekend for Southern Maine
middle school football players. After eight
weeks of the regular season eight teams
earned the right to move into the "second
season".

Windham. Several hundred were in attendance
to witness the games.

a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a clear
sky and 77 degree temperature, the Eagles of
Windham played near perfect football. On
the drive down to Kittery, most players and
families witnessed the arrival of the
Vietnam Memorial wall and its escort of
motorcyclists.

permission to get sideline
permission for Friday night’s game,
I got to see some up close action.
Although not the cleanest event I
have witnessed, it was a true
pleasure to see the Windham Eagles
get their first victory of 2007 and
first ever victory against the
struggling Portland Bulldogs 14-2

Winning Ways.

Before Sunday’s game, Coach
Todd Coons was pacing anxiously. He
admitted to me that he was nervous.
Windham’s solid talent cooled
his nerves early in the game. The 57 degree
rainy day might have helped as well.

WMS FOOTBALL VS. NOBLE SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9
Coach Todd Coons
The Windham Middle School will be playing a
tough Nobel Middle School football team this
Sunday at 1PM. The A game will be first,
followed immediately by the B game.
The games will be held at the Windham HS
Field Complex on field 9. Noble is 1-1 and
Windham is 2-0. Noble is led by their strong
quarterback who can air it out as well as
run up the middle. It will be a real test
for the Windham defense to contain Noble.
Windham will be ready and will have a few
surprises for Noble as well.
Please come and support a great Windham
team.

The B squad
played well, including creating a Safety.
In the A Game,
the opening kickoff was returned 72 yeards
by Sean Ranmarine for a TD. The game, while
impressive was littered by stupid penalties
by the Eagles. Coach Coons, while exuberant,
was not impressed with the lack of
discipline.

Coach Perkins
will return for a fifth year of summer
football. Matt is the head Football Coach
for the Windham High school Varsity Football
Program. He will host the summer camp at the
Windham High School campus.
