ORDER COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE
Rylee
Snow's early success in athletics should
come as no surprise to those who know
her and her family. Her grandfather
coached track at Old Orchard Beach High
School in the 1980's, her dad ran track
and played football and basketball in
high school. Her Aunt,
Christine Reaser-Snow was inducted
into the
Maine
Running Hall of Fame in 2006.
Her older
brother
Nick is a very talented runner and
basketball player.
Rylee
qualified for the 2007 Summer Youth
Track and Field State Championship Meet
in the 100M and 200M dashes. She
finished 7th in the 100M and earned a
4th place ribbon in the 200M.
This
summer was destined to be another
successful summer track season for Rylee
and her brother Nick until real life got
in the way. Their dad Peter started a
new job has been in Rhode Island working
during the week while Rylee, Nick and
their mom Alicia have been back here
packing up the house and saying good bye
to their friends.
After a
couple of weeks of trying to juggle
track in addition to everything else,
the decision was made to forego the
remainder of the season and concentrate
on the move and all that entails.
My
experience with Rylee has been on the
soccer field, where she uses her speed
and athleticism to control the game.
Rylee is
very quick and has great skills for her
age. Combined with her aggressiveness
and determination she excels at soccer.
When she
steps off the field she is quiet, polite
and humble; traits that also run her
family.
When we
met to take her picture for this page, I
found out Rylee was going to start
working more on basketball once her
family gets settled in their new home in
Rhode Island at the end of the month. I
only wish we were going to get to see
the results of those efforts.
