Mary Margaret Green |
ORDER COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE
You don't
have to spend a lot of time around Mary
Margaret Green to realize two things;
she is competitive, and she is the type
of athlete we would all like to have as
a teammate.
Coach
Wayne Martin had this to say about
Green, "Mary Margaret Green played 8th
grade basketball for me and when coaches
talk about "team chemistry" being an
important factor in a team's success,
it's kids like Mary Margaret that
exemplify the meaning of that. Mary was
a role player on this year's team but
her personality was one that not only
calmed her teammates but calmed her
coach as well. She participates in
athletics the way coaches expect. These
days it's a lost position on a team but
Mary has proven that without chemistry
there's no point. Win or lose. For
that her team and her coaches thank
her. Congratulations Mary. Hope to see
you on the court in high school."
Q&A
WSP: Where do you see yourself in five
years?
Mary Margaret:
I see myself attending
college at either
BC or
University of Oregon, majoring in
writing or some sort of athletic
training.
WSP: Who is your role model in sports?
Mary Margaret:
Steve Prefontaine, I really wish
that I could have seen him run! He ran
with such intensity and I really admire
that about him.
WSP: Who is your role model in life?
Mary Margaret:
I really don’t have one
specific person, I admire a lot of
people like my parents and my friends,
but I don’t really have one person that
is my hero.
WSP:
How do you prepare for sports?
Mary Margaret:
I try to stay as relaxed as possible and
just kind of like clear my mind…and
stretch!
WSP:
Favorite sports memory?
Mary Margaret:
This past Summer State
track meet - in the 4x4 relay our team
was in 5th place and then we
kept on catching up and when I got the
baton we were in 4th , and
then I caught up with the pack on the
home stretch. I was glad to end my
summer track career with a
second place medal in the state meet.
