Katelyn Tucker helped
her WYBA team to the
Girls senior league
championship this
season. This was the
second time Katelyn was
on the WYBA championship
team.
Steve Johnston was
Katelyn's basketball
coach this year and had
this to say about her, "Katelyn
was the best point guard
I have coached in the
Windham Rec. League. She
would always find her
open teammates and made
great passes all year
leading us to the
championship. She could
have scored many more
points each game but
instead was very
unselfish and made all
of the players around
her better. Our team
routinely had five or
six players scoring in
every game because of
Katelyn's teamwork. Her
most impressive
performance this year
was in the Championship
game. The other team had
a player who had torched
us all year and we had
lost four games to them.
During the Championship
game Katelyn played
great defense against
this outstanding player,
shutting her down so
that we only gave up 12
points the entire game.
She is certainly
deserving of this
award."
Katelyn is also an
exceptional softball
player. She helped her
team win the Little
League Softball
Championship in 2007.
She is also a member of
the Maine Attraction ASA
Softball team which is
playing and practicing
through the winter in
Topsham.
On Saturdays this
winter, Katelyn has been
traveling to Uxbridge
Mass. to train in the
Planet Fastpitch futures
program. Player must
apply and be accepted
into the program and
Katelyn is one of the
youngest students int he
program dominated by
high top high school
athletes.
Planet Fastpitch
Owner, Denise Davis
said, "Katelyn has been
working extremely hard
in the off season. Her
dedication and work
ethic is shining
through. She travels
hundreds of miles round
trip each weekend to
work on her pitching and
hitting and I have seen
her make some great
changes over the winter.
I am looking forward to
her season!"
In addition to Softball
and Basketball, Katelyn
also plays soccer and is
honor roll student at
Windham Middle School.
Congratulations Katelyn
on all of your
accomplishments.
