Sam Frost was named "Athlete of
the Week" for her amazing cross
country season which saw her win
every 6th grade girls race,
setting records along the way. |
ORDER COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE
Samantha
Frost was nominated for athlete of the
week because of the way she dominated
the competition during the middle school
cross country season.
Frost was
a member of the 6th grade girls cross
country team, competing against 6th
graders from other middle schools in the
area.
Middle
school
cross country coach Paul Pock told
us, "Sam is a natural runner who makes
it look easy."
Frost
finished first in her division in every
race this season. She set course records
along the way to an individual
Championship while helping her team
finish the season undefeated, including
the
team Championship.
Coach Pock
said, " At the beginning of the year I
don't think Sam realized she was winning
her races because she didn't understand
all of the girls run together and are
scored based on the grade they are in."
When asked
what her favorite thing was about cross
country Frost told us, "Crossing the
finish line and dropping to the ground
because I am so tired."
Amazingly
we learned that Cross Country isn't even
Frost's favorite sport. Her first love
is basketball. She is currently playing
on the
6th Grade Girls Travel Basketball Team.
She will be playing AAU Basketball with
her sister again, two years above her
age level like she has for the past
several seasons.
Frost says
her favorite thing to do in
basketball
is, "making a good pass."
Frost also
played travel soccer this past fall on
the U12 Girls "Windham Rebels" team.
This was her first season playing
soccer and
not surprisingly she enjoyed herself.
Frost
plans on adding another sport to the mix
as well, telling us she intends to run
track this
spring.
We asked
her where she saw herself in five years.
She replied, "In 11th grade and hope to
be involved in varsity sports."
Regardless
of what sport she is playing we expect
to see a lot more of Frost in the
Windham Sports Pages.
Congratulations Sam on a great season
and on being named
Athlete
of the Week.
