2011 SMYFL Atlantic Division Champions
Windham, ME: Windham Middle School capped off an incredible season by walloping Saco 46-14 to capture the Southern Maine Youth Football (SMYFL) Atlantic Division Championship.
Dylan Koza scored three touchdowns, Griffin Jcobson scored twice and Tyler Johnson threw touchdown passes of 36 and 43 yards as Windham dominated Saco under the lights on the Windham High School Stadium Field.

Captains gather for the coin toss
Saco won the coin toss and possibly made their first mistake of the game by deferring the kick to Windham. Windham Middle School student Emma Davis followed the coin toss with a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
Saco kicked the ball off to Dylan Koza who returned the ball to the Saco 36 yard line. Windham drove the ball down the field quickly with Koza drawing first blood on a short toughdown run. The two point conversion failed when the snap from center bounced off Tyler Johnnson and fell to the ground.

Saco's first possession was stymied when Griffin Jacobson sacked the Trojan QB for a 6 yard loss on second down. After an incompletion on third down the Trojan's were forced to punt. The punt was deflected allowing Windham to take over on the Saco 37 yard line. Windham looked for the homerun ball on first down and it paid off when Johnson hooked up with Eric Webb for a 37 yard touchdown pass play. Webb ran in the two-point conversion to put Windham ahead 14-0

Windham's first possession in the second quarter started on their own 38 yard line. On second and eight, Koza ripped off a 28 yard run down to the Saco 22 yard line. Koza ran 14 yards on the next play to the Saco eight yard line and finished off the drive with an eight yard touchdown on the next play. After a Saco false start pushed them back five yards, Koza intercepted a Trojan pass and returned the ball down to the Saco 17 yard line. Two plays later Koza found the endzone again and followed it up with the successful to-point conversion to put Windham ahead 28-0.
Saco managed to earn a first down on their next possession before being forced to punt. Saco got the ball back on an interception before turning the ball back over on an interception of their own. Windham capitalized on the turnover as Tyler Johnson through a longball to Kyle Kilfoil who made a great catch after first tipping the ball in the air to avoid a Saco defender. Kilfoil collected the pass and completed the 43 yard scoring play. Saco intercepted the two-point attempt in the end zone to hold Windham's lead to 34-0.

Griffin Jacobson sacks the Saco QB
Saco got on the scoreboard in dramatic fashion when they returned the kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Their two-point try was no good and Windham took a 34-6 lead into halftime.

Saco followed with their best drive of the game with two big gains coming on QB keepers, including a 9 yard touchdown run for the final touchdown of the game. Saco added the two point conversion to cut Windham's lead to 46-14.

Tyler Johnson airs it out.
Windham received the kickoff and began the final drive of the game from their own 10 yard line after a holding penalty on the return. After a first down, the Eagles faced a 4th and 11 from their own 20 yard line. They lined up for a punt but the call was a Koza run up the right side for a first down. Windham proceded to kneel the ball down twice to capture Windham Middle School's first gold football since 2008.
After the celebration was over, Coach Rich Johnson challenged his team "Don't be satisfied being 8th grade champions. This isn't the last gold ball you can win."
