Windham 8th grade boys pick up first win of season

Scarborough, ME: Windham Middle School's eighth grade boys basketball (1-1) team picked up their first win of the season with a 29-22 win at Scarborough on Monday afternoon. Kyle Kilfoil led the Eagles with 10 points and Patrick Leavitt added five points.

Windham dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Red Storm 10-0. Zach Hough scored first, followed by two free throws by Mitchell Ezkilson, and baskets by Zach Hough, Zach Lacombe and Kyle Kilfoil.

Scarborough outscored Windham 7-3 in the second period with Patrick Leavitt accounting for all three of Windham's points. Leavitt scored on a free throw and hit a basket to round out the first half scoring. Windham took a 13-7 lead into halftime.

Kilfoil scored six straight points to start the third quarter to extend Windham's lead to 19-7 before Scarborough scored on a free throw. Leavitt added a basket and Scarborough answered with one of their own. Windham led 21-10 at the end of the third quarter.

Scarborough opened the fourth quarter with three points. Eric Webb scored and Scarborough answered. Kilfoil scored his fifth basket of the game followed by another by Webb. Scarborough went on a 7-0 run before Tyler Johnson scored on layup and Ezkilson closed out the scoring with a free throw to secure Windham's 29-22 win.
