Lincoln Handles Windham 37-26 in Season Opener

Portland, ME: Lincoln Middle School defeated Windham Middle School 37-26 in eight grade boys basketball on Wednesday. Zach Hough led Windham with six points and Eric Webb added five.

It took three minutes for either team to put points on the board. Mitchell Eskilson hit a free throw with 4:01 left on the clock to give Windham a 1-0 lead. Lincoln scored four points before Eskilson scored a basket. Kyle Kilfoil put Windham back in front 5-4. Eskilson hit a jumper from the foul line to regain the lead 7-6 which Windham held onto through the end of the first quarter.

Eric Webb extended Windham's lead with a free throw before Lincoln scored three points to take a 9-8 lead. Patrick Leavitt gave Windham the lead again with a basket from the paint. Lincoln regained a one point lead before Webb put Windham back in front 12-11 with two free throws. Lincoln scored the final three points of the half to take a 15-12 lead into halftime.

Hough hit a jumper to get the scoring started in the second half before Lincoln went on a 11-1 run to make it 26-15 at the end of three quarters.

Lincoln added three more points to start the fourth quarter. Eric Webb hit a free throw and Eskilson hit two free throws after a Lincoln free throw to pull Windham to within 30-18. Lincoln added three more points before Windham went on a 6-0 run that included four points from Tyler Johnson, a free throw each from Patrick Leavitt and Eric Webb. Griffin Jacobson closed out the scoring for Windham.
