| Windham Coach Minte named Western Maine Coach of the Year WHS Varsity Boys Soccer December 4, 2011 By Chris Spaulding  Colin Minte selected Maine Soccer Coaches Western Maine Boys Coach of the Year. Town, ME: The Maine Soccer Coaches Association named Windham High School boys soccer coach Colin Minte the Western Maine Boys Soccer Coach of the Year at their annual awards banqut today. Minte led the Eagles to their first boys soccer state championship in his first year as a high school coach. Minte said, "It was a very special season this year. We had great senior leadership and a group of guys who were committed to pushing themselves to improve each and every day, and doing whatever required of them to be successful. For a first year coach to come in and take the school to its first ever championship is a clear indication of the quality of the athletic program and tremendous support of the community. It was a great run and we look forward to defending our State Championship in 2012." Minte was also selected as one of two Maine high chool boys coaches as NSCAA Region 1 “Coach of the Year” Nominees. Minte was selected as Maine's nominee for the large school division while Aaron Wilcox of Bangor Christian was selected for the private school division Each of these coaches were competing against the five other New England states for the NSCAA Region 1 “Coach of the Year”. The Maine Soccer Coaches Association was notified on Thursday that Aaron Wilcox of Bangor Christian has been selected the NSCAA Private School New England “Coach of the Year”. He will how compete with other Regions for NSCAA National Private School “Coach of the Year” for 2011. Falmouth High School girls coach and former Windham High School girls coach Wally LeBlanc, was named Western Maine Girls Coach of the Year. Leblanc was also named the Portland Press Herald's Girls Coach of the year last week. LeBlanc led the Falmouth Girls to their second straight Class B State Championship in his first year at the school. |
