| WHS Soccer Players Earn Recognition WHS Soccer December 4th 2011 By Chris Spaulding  Windham's Robbie Lentine attacks the ball that was crossed to him in the second half of the 17th annual Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl. Lentine scored on the play. Bangor, ME: The Maine Soccer Coaches Association recognized two Windham High School soccer players at their annual awards banquet today. Windham Junior Jordan Symonds was named to the Girls Western Maine State Team. Windham Senior Robbie Lentine picked up multiple honors; being named to the Western Maine Boys Team and being selected to the All New England Team. Lentine And Elliot Maker of Cheverus High School were both named Class A Player of the year. Both players tied for the most votes for the award. Windham High School boys soccer coach Colin Minte said, "Robby is a very special player, who has the ability to play nearly every position on the field. His leadership on the field and the energy that he brought to every game was a critical component to our success. Robby played his best in the biggest games, scoring four goals and adding three assists during the playoff run.He finished the season with 21 goals & 11 assists, while also playing an important role in the midfield. Robby is a player who does all the little things a coach asks, and will have great success at the next level." Lentine's latest accomplishments are added to an already impressive resume: - Four year Varsity Letter Winner - Led his high school team to their first Class A State Championship - Led team to the Class A Western Maine Championship - Captain of his High School team in 2011 - Led his team in scoring with 21 goals and 11assists in 2011 - During his “Championship Run” this player scored 4 goals and added 3 assists - Selected to the All SMAA Class A Team in 2011 - Member of the Western Maine Class A Regional All-Star Team in 2010 and 2011 - Member of the Western Maine State Team in 2011 - Selected to the SMAA All-Academic Team in 2011 - Scored a goal in 17th Maine Soccer Coaches Annual Senior Bowl helping the West Seniors to a 7 - 3 win over the East Seniors. |
