| Windham Players Selected to All Star Teams WHS Soccer November 6, 2011 By Chris Spaulding Windham, ME: Four Windham High School Soccer players have been selected to the 2011 Maine Soccer Coaches Association All Star Teams. Windham junior Jordan Symonds was selected to the girls all star team. Symonds and her teammates made it to the Western Maine quarterfinals where they were eliminated by Gorham. The girls side is very young and the future looks bright for Symonds and her teammates. Windham Seniors Dana King, Robbie Lentine and Brian Soucy were all selected to the boys all star team. The boys won Windham's first ever boys soccer championship this year. The Maine Soccer Coaches Association names regional all star teams each fall. The process starts with coaches nominating players from their teams in late September. The list of nominees are then sent out to every high school coach in Maine for them to vote. Once votes are tabulated the regional all star teams are anounced. The senior all stars are each voted to play in the Senior Bowl, a 2 hour player showcase with Eastern Maine All Stars taking on Western Maine All Stars. All Stars from all Classes (A, B, C & D) compete in the same game. The 17th Maine Soccer Coaches Annual Senior Bowl which is on Sunday, November 13th at Hampden Academy. The boy's game is at 12 noon and the girl's game will start at 2:30 All of the All Stars are invited to the Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet. The 38th annual banquet is on Sunday, December 4th at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor. The banquet starts at 1:00 pm. |
