Windham
ME: Thornton and Windham were deadlocked
from the third inning until the bottom
of the seventh inning when Windham's

Carpentier to seal the win.

The
contest was scoreless until the second
inning when Thornton took advantage of a
Windham error, a hit batter and a walked
batter and then created the offense
necessary on passed balls to record
three runs. The Eagles managed to
recover, but it took them another inning
before they countered. In the third,
Calvin Field started the offense with a
single and stole second base. Christian
Coons then put the ball in play and
managed to get on base on an error by
the Trojan third baseman. Field scored
on that play. Brad Carpentier came to
the plate and drew a walk. Nick
Sundquist hit a single to drive in Coons
and Carpentier scored on a passed ball
to even the game.

In the
fifth inning, the defense took a hit
when Calvin Field came running in from
center field and looked to catch the fly
ball on a diving play. The official
ruled it a non-catch. However the
effort cost Field as he broke his thumb
on the play. After two batters time was
called and Field was pulled from the
game and wouldn’t return. Because
Windham had used all its substitutes,
some difficult decisions had to be made
on who was eligible to return to the
lineup. With Corey Cole in the game
replacing starting pitcher Colby
Waterhouse, the decision was made to put
Waterhouse in Field’s spot due to the
injury. With the technicalities aside,
the game continued.

The Eagles
offense came to life in the bottom of
the seventh. Brad Carpentier started
the inning with a nice single. Nick
Sundquist followed with a double. The
next two batters flied out. Cole Moran
came to the plate and hit a little
single that Brad Carpentier took
advantage of and scored to win the game.
