Windham:
Despite being behind for most of the
game, the Eagles didn’t give up and
rallied to defeat the Lewiston Blue
Devils 14-11.
Lewiston
hit the scoreboard first in the second
inning. With their two lead-off hitters
getting to base on a walk and a single
respectively, they showed their speed on
the base paths. The third batter flied
out to left field, but the runner tagged
and came home. The next batter reached
base on an error and the second run
scored. Windham answered in the bottom
of the second, but couldn’t match the
effort. Colby Waterhouse scored the
first of his two runs on the day.

Lewiston
countered in the third with three runs.
Windham’s pitcher Colby Waterhouse
struggled with control and gave up 2
hits, hit a batter and walked two.
Lewiston capitalized on the
opportunities. In the bottom of the
third, Windham matched the scoring with
three of their own runs. Christian
Coons, Brad Carpentier and Nick
Sundquist found the plate for the
Eagles.

In the
fourth inning, each team swapped runs.
In the fifth, Colby Waterhouse started
showing some wear. Cody Miller came on
in relief and he in turn was relieved by
Cody Cole. Lewiston’s bottom of the
order generated three runs. However, in
the bottom of the fifth, Lewiston
changed their pitcher. Windham seized
the opportunity and scored five runs
with the first five batters. Then the
Lewiston defense buckled down and
retired the side. With the score 10-9,
the Blue Devils and Eagles weren’t quite
finished.

In the
sixth, the Eagle defense was strong and
held Lewiston scoreless. Windham had
four batters walked. Sam Manley drove
in one run on a fly ball to right
field. Calvin Field drove in two runs
with a single. That offense gave
Windham the runs it needed to seal the
win. Lewiston found the plate twice in
the final box, but it wasn’t enough to
get the win.

they take on the Scots from Bonny Eagle.
