Town, ME: Swimming: Windham Boys open with Victory; Girls Split Opener.

The Windham Swimming and Diving teams opened up the season on Friday, December 10. The boys earned a 49-22 victory over North Yarmouth Academy while the Girls defeated North Yarmouth Academy (66-16) and lost to Waynflete (52-42).

The Girls were led by Junior Elaine Miller who set two school records (200 IM, 500 Free) and led off the Medley Relay. Miller, along with McKayla Eskilson, Ashley Crocker, and Bronte Sone, set a new school record in the season's first event. Waynflete earned a victory in most events with the Eagles finishing 2nd and 3rd. The Eagles did have two individual victories over Waynflete in the 500 Free (Miller) and the 100 Back (Crocker). The Eagles were able to finish 1st and 2nd over NYA in most events and found that their depth in relays was able to help set the pace for the day.

The boys boys took on a NYA team small in numbers and was able to end the evening with a win. While the Eagles found individual victories in all events (led by Lance Webster, Nick Sundquist, Patrick Rice, Daniel Sepulveda, Nathan Paluso, and Lance Webster), Nick Sundquist was able to surpass the school record in the 100 Fly (previously held by 2010 graduate Jake Shoberg).

The Eagles unveiled a new lineup after graduating 8 seniors last year and adding 20 new members to the squad. The meet saw most swimmers surpassing previous best times and set a strong tone early in the year. The Eagles take on Bonny Eagle Friday, December 17 at St. Joseph's College at 4:00
