| Wings skate to first win of the season Hockey - Windham / Sacopee Valley; Boys Varsity December 23, 2010 Saco, ME: Western Maine Wings skate to first win of the season with their 2-1 victory at Massabesic Thursday December 23 at DHG Ice Center. Period 1 First Score of the night comes at 12:42 by Wings #17 Mike Morrison with an assist by #29 Zack Plyer Wings managed to keep the Mustangs at bay the first period Period 2 Second score of the night comes at 11:10 by wings #34 Owen Phillips assisted by #8 Danny Stewart and #32 Chris Gagne Two periods down and thanks to Wings Goalie Curtis Merrill, Mustangs are two goals down going into the third period Period 3 Much against the outstanding efforts of Wings Goalie Curtis Merrill, Mustangs put one on the board at 12:59 (#16 with assist by #15) With only 6 minutes left of the game - the intensity increased and Wings goalies Curtis Merrill averted several attempts at an additional Mustang goal One minute left of the game and the Mustangs pull their goalie for a 6 man attempt at evening the score, the Wings were not going to let that happen and stepped up their energy to play some incredible last minute defense leading them to their first win of the season Final score - Wings 2, Mustangs 1 |
