Windham ME:
Windham High School Football Coach Matt
Perkins masterfully guided his team to the
Class A State Championship this fall. His
team only came up short on the field once
during that run. He is now facing a
different kind of challenge, the economy.
Perkins goal
is to provide championship rings for every
player who suited up for the state champions
this season including the freshmen that
stayed with the team for the playoffs when
their season ended. He also wants to give
rings to the coaching staff and others who
had significant roles in the team's success
this year.
Perkins and
his staff thought they were getting close to
their goal. They have currently raised and
collected 40% of the amount needed to
purchase the rings for everyone.
Unfortunately some of the businesses who
pledged money to the effort have not
followed through with those funds.
The coaching
staff is hoping to raise the rest of the
money but they have told all of the
recipients they may have to pitch in the
difference for their rings.
Anyone who
wishes to contribute can send a check to
Windham High School, Attn Matt Perkins and made out to Windham
Football. Coach Perkins can be reached at
892-1810 to answer any questions.
