Fourth ranked Windham (14-5) took control in
the second quarter and cruised into the
semi-finals with a 59-42 victory over fifth
ranked Thornton Academy (13-6).

Szklany made it 3-0 Windham with a bucket.
After a 6-0 run by Thornton Academy Garrett
Clemmer went 2 for 2 from the line. Thornton
scored again before Clemmer went 2 for 2
from the line again. Szklany hit a
three-pointer to put Windham ahead 10-8 but
Thornton hit another basket to tie the game
10-10 at the end of the first quarter.

completed a three-point play to start the
second quarter. Thornton answered with a
basket before Nick Taylor scored another to
put the Eagles ahead 15-12. Thornton
answered again and Nolan Allen came back
with a three-pointer at the top of the key.
Allen followed that up with a great move
that eluded his defender outside the three
point arc and pulled up for a jumper at the
foul line. Szklany followed with a basket to
give Windham a 22-14 lead. Thornton hit a
three-pointer before Clemmer added two more
free throws and then hit a three-pointer and
Nick Taylor collected a rebound and put in
the layup to give the Eagles a big 29-17
lead at the half.

Windham
started the third quarter with a 7-2 run
that started with Allen hitting a free
throw. Then Brix stole the ball and hit a
basket. Clemmer scored on an assist from
Szklany and Allen wrapped up the run with a
basket. Thornton answered with an 11-2 run
in which Windham's only points came from two
Clemmer free throws. Windham's lead at the
end of three quarters shrunk to 38-31.
Stephen
Lambert flies to the hoop for the Eagles and

all of his seven points in clutch time.

Thornton
pulled to within 38-33 at the start of the
fourth quarter before Allen hit two free
throws and Szklany added another. Thornton
countered with a basket before Allen hit a
three-pointer and a left handed layup to
stretch Windham's lead back to double
digits, 46-35. Thornton hit a three-pointer
and then Windham went on a 13-4 run to close
out the game. Lambert scored seven points
during the run, Szklany added four points
and Allen added two more.
Windham will
face top ranked Cheverus at 7:30PM at the
Cumberland County Civic Center on Wednesday
February 17 2010.
