Nolan Allen puts up a
three-pointer in the second half. Allen dropped 20
points including four three-pointers.
Portland ME:
Deering jumped out to a 16 point lead at halftime
and held off a late Windham surge for a 53-50 win.
Deering jumped all
over Windham in the first quarter with aggressive
defending and precision shooting. Jon Amabile scored
nine of his team high 18 points in the quarter
including a three pointer. Nolan Allen scored five
of his game high 20 points in the quarter including
one of his four three pointers. Adam Szklany drained
a three pointer and Stephen "Steve-O" Lambert hit a
layup for Windham. Deering took a commanding 19-10
lead after one quarter.

Garrett Clemmer
defending against a Deering player.
Deering opened the
second quarter with a 7-0 run before Lambert
completed a three-point play and Nick Taylor hit a
free throw. Deering made the score 30-14 and Ben
Noble answered with a three-pointer followed by
Garrett Clemmer's first basket of the game. Deering
recorded a three-point play and Szklany hit two foul
shots to draw Windham to within 33-21. Deering
extended their lead to 37-21 before the half.

Brandon Hodge eyes the
ball handler with Nolan Allen ready to act if the
ball comes in his direction. Hodge hit a three
pointer in the fourth quarter filling in for Stephen
Lambert.
The Eagles Struggled
in the first half without Andy Brix who was out sick
and sophomore phenom Allen getting in early foul
trouble. Windham Coach Kevin Millington said, "I
thought the players that were in there did a good
job. Deering was coming off a losing streak and it
may have just been a case of them being hungrier
(than we were)."
The Eagles took
control of the third quarter outscoring the Rams
10-6 to start their second half rally. Allen drained
two more three-pointers and Lambert and Clemmer each
added baskets in the quarter.

Stephen "Steve-O"
Lambert had eight points and a couple smooth drives
to the hoop before fouling out in the fourth
quarter.
Trailing 47-31, Allen
hit a jumper and Lambert followed with two points.
After another Rams score Allen hit his fourth
three-pointer of the night. Lambert fouled out and
was called for a technical as he was walking to the
bench. The referee was originally going to issue the
technical to the bench but Millington successfully
argued that would create an unfair disadvantage to
his team considering the call was on Lambert who was
still on the floor.

Garrett Clemmer goes
to the hoop in the third quarter. Clemmer had an
unusually quiet night scoring four points against
the Rams.
Nick Taylor scored the
first five points in a 7-0 Eagles run that Allen
capped with a sweet drive to the hoop for a reverse
layup. Playmakers want the ball in pressure
situations and Allen was asking for the ball as
Windham closed the gap on Deering. Allen has become
one of the Eagles top playmakers.

Garrett Clemmer pulls
down a rebound late in the game.
The fourth quarter
continued with Windham reaching for the improbable
comeback with a three-pointer from Brandon Hodge and
Szklany adding two more points. Unfortunately time
was not on the Eagles side and the Deering Rams
picked up an important SMAA victory.
Windham travels to
Saco at 5:30PM on Thursday to face Thornton Academy
in another important game as the season winds down.
