The third ranked Westbrook Blue Blazes
(12-1) ended fifth ranked Windham Eagles
(8-4) six game winning streak with their
61-50 victory at Windham High School.

Windham came
out early intent on limiting Westbrook's
number of possessions. The defensive plan
worked in holding the high powered Westbrook
offense to six total points in the first
quarter. Dominic Borelli scored four points
and Nick Jobin added the other two. Windham
answered with four points from Garrett
Clemmer and two from Nick Taylor.

Westbrook got
its offense going in the second quarter
while Windham continued to struggle putting
the ball in the hoop. Jobin added six more
points in the second quarter and Sean Murphy
scored six points on a pair of
three-pointers. Windham's scoring came from
Clemmer's three-pointer, Szklany hit a
two-pointer and Nolan Allen chipped in with
a pair of free throws. Westbrook took a
24-13 lead into halftime.
Windham almost
closed the halftime deficit by three points
when a half court shot at the buzzer found
the rim, rolled around inside and popped
out.

Westbrook went
on an 11-3 run to begin the third quarter.
Windham's points during that span came from
an Allen free throw and a Clemmer basket.
Allen hit another basket before Westbrook
opened its biggest lead of the game 39-20.
The Eagles managed to chip into that lead by
ending the quarter on a 9-3 run that
included a three-pointer from Allen that was
sandwiched between two Szklany
three-pointers. Westbrook led 42-29 at the
end of three quarters.

Windham showed
their determination and never give up
attitude early in the fourth quarter.
Trailing 45-29, they went on a 17-7 run that
pulled them to within four points, 52-48.
Allen got the run started with a basket,
followed by Stephen Lambert's two points.
After a Westbrook bucket, Allen received a
sweet pass from Jackson Taylor and added two
more points with a layup. Taylor followed up
his great assist by draining a
three-pointer. Clemmer hit a three pointer
of his own. Allen continued his huge second
half with another basket and "Steve-O"
Lambert connected on three-point play.
Clemmer ended the run with another bucket.

Westbrook
scored four points before Szklany recorded
Windham's final two points of the game to
draw the Eagles back to within 56-50.
Westbrook continued to possess the ball
forcing Windham to foul Westbrook players to
stop the clock. Westbrook proved to be too
tough from the foul line and held on for the
61-50 victory.

travels to Scarborough on Saturday January
23 to take on the Red Storm in a makeup game
that was postponed due to the snowstorm on
Monday.
