Windham-The Eagles contributed as a team
in the victory against the Kennebunk
Rams 70-26.
Windham’s
starting squad of Dylan Weisser, Calvin
Field, Joe Francoeur, Shawn Francoeur
and Connor Flynn took the Eagles far in
the first quarter. They out-scored the
Rams by 17 points. Coach Artes saw an
opportunity and quickly sat the starters
and went to his bench.

Kennebunk
showed up with nine players. Windham
had their full contingent of 13. As the
second quarter wore on, the Rams
appeared to tire and the Eagles bench
continued to supply fresh players who
were eager to score. Windham outscored
Kennebunk by ten points in the second
quarter and held a healthy lead at the
half with the score 40-13.

In the
third, Kennebunk came out seemingly
refreshed and pushed the ball and played
competitively against Windham. Coach
Artes didn’t put his starter’s out as a
squad, but substituted them in sparingly
to give them a little playing time. As
the Rams frustration started to grow, so
did their foul count. Windham managed
to out-score Kennebunk by 5 points in
the third to lead 53-21.

In the
fourth quarter, the air was with the
Eagles and not the Rams as Windham moved
the ball well against their opponents.
Windham took its time, worked the ball
until finding an open player to make a
basket. It was a lesson in patient play
that the Eagles executed very well.
Windham’s defense was solid as well as
they were able to create turnovers and
collect rebounds on Kennebunk’s missed
shots. Windham ended this game with 12
of 13 players contributing to the score
and three players in double digits for
scoring. Leading scorers were Isaac
Gurney with 11, Joe Francoeur and Jake
Perry with 10, Brad Carpentier with 8
and Shawn Francoeur with 6.
