SMAA boys senior all star game.
Portland
ME: What happens when you bring the top
senior players and scorers from the SMAA
together on one court? A high scoring game
with lots of dunks and three pointers that
can run the scores into triple digits and
keep the fans on the edge of their seats.

Windham's Adam
Szklany plays the point in the
SMAA boys
senior all star game.
That is
exactly what happened at Deering High School
on Wednesday night when the SMAA held their
annual SMAA senior boys all star game.

The visitor
team led by Cheverus' Indiana Faithful with
25 points and Scarborough's Conor Sullivan
with 23 points defeated the Home team 116 -
97. The home team was led by Westbrook's
Nich Jobin with 24 points and Portland's
Koang Thok
(Basketball
Academy Rising Star)
with 16
points. Windham High School standouts Adam
Szklany (4 points) and Garrett Clemmer (10
points) also contributed for the home team.

The game was
fun and explosive. Fans of low scoring
defensive battles were the only ones who
could have walked away disappointed. That's
not to say the players didn't play hard on
defense. There was everything you would
expect on both sides of the ball from the
conference's top seniors. There were blocked
shots, steals and hard nosed play under the
boards.

South
Portland's Keegan Hyland did not play due to
injury, sitting beside Gorham's John Day (10
points) Cheverus' Indiana Faithful (25
points) and Biddeford's Abdi Mohamed (13
points).
There was a
three point shooting contest at halftime
that allowed the sharp shooters to show
their stuff. Each shooter had one minute to
make as many treys as they could. Bonny
Eagle senior Lincoln Sanborn won by hitting
11 three pointers.

Bonny
Eagle's Lincoln Sanborn (14 points) won the
three point contest at halftime by making 11
shots in one minute.
The highlight
of the night for many was at the 10 minute
mark of the second half when the game was
stopped for the Dunk Contest. Each
contestant was given two 30 second periods
to complete two dunks. Once a dunk was
completed in a 30 second period they would
start the next 30 second period. Judges
scored the completed dunks on a score of
1-10 with 10 being the best score.

Westbrook's Nich Jobin
won the slam dunk contest with two commanding dunks.

Sportsmanship Award to #00 Nick Caswell (6 points)
and other representatives from Noble High School.
The excitement from
the slam dunk contest changed the tone of the last
ten minutes of the game. Players looked for any
opportunity to throw down a dunk or toss an ally-oop
pass for someone else to complete the exciting play
with a slam dunk.

Cheverus' Indiana
Faithful runs down the court to defend Westbrook's
Jose Nouchanthavong and Dominic Borelli.
When asked what their
favorite memory of the SMAA boys senior all star
game was, Adam Szklany and Garrett Clemmer answered
in Unison, "The dunk contest."

Cheverus' Kyle Randall
and Westbrook's Nich Jobin share a laugh on the way
down the court.
While this was
Szklany's last opportunity to officially represent
Windham High School on the hard court, Clemmer will
get his last chance at 1:30PM on Saturday March 13
when he takes the court in The McDonald's Senior A/B
High School basketball game at Husson College in
Bangor.
