STANDISH, ME - Saint
Joseph's College Women's Basketball senior Carolyn
Freeman (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) has been selected
to participate in the 2010 New England Women's
Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star
Classic.
The annual contest
will be played at Western New England College on
Saturday, March 27th at 1:00 PM. Freeman and Jess
Mellen from Rivier College are the only two players
from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference who
were selected to play in the game. Overall,
twenty-two players from around New England will
participate.
In her final
collegiate season, Freeman averaged 10.0 points, 4.9
rebounds and 2.5 assists per game with a 38.6%
(34-88) success rate from three-point distance. The
senior guard is one of the finest three-point
shooters in recent team history, as she ranks third
in both threes made (173) and attempted (518) and
eighth in three-point efficiency (33.4%).
Freeman, a two-time
All-GNAC honoree, became the 19th player in program
history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau during
her senior season and closed out her career with
1,111 points, 593 caroms and an 11.1 PPG average.
Saint Joseph's posted
a 12-12 overall record and played to a 7-5 tilt in
Great Northeast Athletic Conference play during the
2009-10 campaign.
