the Lions over the Sanford Redskins in
the bottom of the seventh inning.

McAuley
hit the scoreboard first in the fifth
inning. Allina Verillo started the
attack with a home run shot to right
center field. Kayla Daigle followed
with a double. Gabby Townsend cranked a
triple to drive Daigle in and Mary
Redmond drove her in with a sacrifice
hit.

Sanford
attempted a comeback in the sixth
inning. With one out, the Redskins
loaded the bases. Lindsey Nolette
grounded to pitcher Jen Field and Field
threw to home to get the force out at
home and prevent the run. Field then
struck out the next batter to retire the
side.

The
Redskins didn’t stop their attack. In
the top of the seventh, with two outs,
Field walked Samantha Adams. Grace
Adams hit a single and Jordan Brasier
hit a three-run homer to tie the game.
Undaunted, the Lions came to the plate.
Number nine batter Mary Redmond was hit
by a pitch to get on base. Shelby
Bryant hit a single. Amber Libby bunted
to move the runners to second and third
base. Sam Schildroth took her first
pitch and drove a nice grounder past the
shortstop and Mary Redmond headed for
home to seal the game.

McAuley on Monday May 3 when they travel
to Kennebunk.
