The
Windham fifth grade girls' travel
basketball team captured another
championship this past weekend, coming
out on top in the 17th Annual Westbrook
Paper City Classic. After suffering a
1-point loss to Saco last Tuesday night,
the girls rebounded on Saturday, downing
Bonny Eagle and then Westbrook to become
the White Division #2 seed. The girls
then faced the Blue Division #1 seed,
Lake Region, in a semi-final match-up on
Sunday morning. In a high-energy game,
the Windham girls made a run to win it,
28-27, and advance to the final on
Sunday afternoon vs. the White Division
#1 seed, Saco. Windham took the early
lead inthe re-match and didn't look
back, downing Saco by the score of 33-21
to become the 2009 Paper City Classic
5th grade girls' champions.
