The Eighth
Grade Boys basketball team traveled
across the town line to Gorham and were
victorious on the court 40-33.
Gorham has
a few very tall players so the opening
tip off was not in the Eagles control.
In fact, it took a while for either team
to light the score board. Christian
Coons finally hit a free throw more than
three minutes into the game to get
things started. It seemed a dam
exploded as the Eagles quickly scored
baskets and allowed only a handful for
Gorham.

In the
second quarter with fresh bodies on the
court, Windham continued to out-pace
Gorham and scored eight points to
Gorham’s four. At the half the Eagles
led 23-10 and were confident going into
the locker room.

The third
quarter opened with a series of fouls
and sloppy play. Gorham started showing
signs of not wanting to lie down and
out-scored the Eagles 11-8. Both teams
worked on full-court press and Gorham
seemed to create the better
opportunities. The big men for Gorham
also managed to grab rebound after
rebound to put the ball in the net.
The
frantic melee of the third quieted down
in the fourth quarter as both teams
worked to not commit fouls and focused
on moving the ball to create better
scoring opportunities. Even though
Gorham out-scored Windham, it wasn’t
enough as the buzzer sounded after 28
minutes of play with Windham in the
lead.

With 21
seconds left in the game and down by 7,
Gorham called time out. The score didnt
change as the Eagles got control and
held off the Junior Rams. David Field

Windham
had 11 of 13 players put points on the
board. Leading scorers included Shawn
Francoeur with 9, brother Joe with 8,
Jake Perry, Brad Carpentier and Colby
Waterhouse with 4 each.
Catch
Windham on Thursday afternoon as the
host the Bonny Eagle Scots and hope to
avenge the loss earlier in the season.
