The 8th
Grade boys basketball team defeated
Southern Maine Catholic 38-28 in Windham
on Monday.
Shawn
Francoeur led all scorers with 14. Nine
out of thirteen players put points on
the board for the Eagles.

Starting
for the Eagles were Calvin Field, Brad
Carpentier, Dylan Weisser, Jake Perry
and Joe Francoeur. This group put up
nine points while holding SMC to 5.
That was a considerable feat considering
Matt Cimino, who stands over six feet
tall and has a very good three point
shot, was on the court for SMC. Windham
used the full court press early to make
its defense known and forced turnovers.

Eagles after missing the first half of
the season with an arm injury. Welcome
back Tom! David Field photo
In the
second quarter, Colby Waterhouse,
Spencer Noel, Shawn Francoeur, Christian
Coons and Hawreh Haddadi took the
floor. This group put together a
scoring spree that SMC had a difficult
time defending. The Eagles put together
16 while holding SMC to 7 points to go
into the half with a good lead.
The third
quarter saw both squads come out with
aggressive defenses and little offense.
It was a stingy quarter for scoring as
each put up two baskets apiece.

In the
fourth quarter, SMC took a page out of
Windham’s book and forced many turnovers
and capitalized on them. However, the
Eagles were able to slow down SMC and
eek out the ten point win.
