In playing their final home game at the varsity field, the WMS Baseball Squad fell to Lyman Moore 8-2.  The Lyman Moore Squad was made up of players from the North Deering Babe Ruth squad that won the 13 year old State Championship title and competed at the New England Regional last summer.

Lyman Moore started the game off by quickly scoring in the first inning.  Pitcher Nate Boyle settled in and held off further attach to close the first.  Windham’s lead-off batter, Calvin Field crushed a double to start the Eagle attack.  Number four batter, Christian Coons drove Field in to get the Eagles tied after one.

Lyman Moore continued to chip away at starting pitcher Nate Boyle in the second as they managed to score two more runs.  The Eagles battled back to get in the game in the third inning as Calvin Field again reached base on a walk, stole second and would be driven in again by Christian Coons.  Unfortunately, the Eagles offense was stifled for the rest of the game.

Coach Aaron Vachon decided to change things up and brought in Shawn Francoeur in the fourth inning.  Francoeur would be tagged with five runs in four innings.  However, in the fifth inning, as the Lyman Moore bench started feeling cocky.  A brilliant play from centerfield took out a runner.  Colby Waterhouse ran down a ball at the fence and threw it to cut off player Nate Boyle who relayed to third baseman Christian Coons who made the tag a good eight feet from the base.  However the Lyman Moore assault continued and the Eagles weren’t able to score more runs.

The WMS Eagles finish their season on Thursday in Portland against Lincoln MS.
