Windham ME:
The Windham Eagles took control in the first
quarter and never looked back on their way
to a 61-44 win over Sanford.
The scoring
started slowly in a physical first quarter
that included Dillon McGowan picking up
bruise on his right eye.
Sophomore
standout Nolan Allen scored six of Windham's
first seven points before the seniors got
the Eagles soaring late in the first
quarter.
Windham
trailed 10-7 when Garrett Clemmer hit a
three pointer to tie the game and start a
15-0 Windham run that carried over into the
second quarter. During the run Clemmer
scored seven of his game high 20 points and
Andy Brix scored eight including two three
pointers. Windham led 17-10 at the end of
the first. Brix finished the game with 15
points.
Point guard
Steven Lambert hit two of his three free
throws in the second quarter to help Windham
maintain the lead through the first half.
Lambert and Brandon Hodge did a great job
sharing the point guard duties while Adam
Azklany sat out with an injury suffered in a
game last week.
Sanford cut
Windham's lead to 30-22 at the half.
Allen and
Clemmer put the game out of reach in the
third, both hitting multple shots including
a three pointer each and Windham extended
their lead to 51 -29 at the end of three
quarters.
Allen
continued to impress, opening the fourth
quarter with another three pointer, and
hitting another basket to score the first
five points of the quarter to bring his game
total to 18 on the night.
