Windham ME: Windham
(2-2) ended a two game slide tonight with an
impressive 72-47 victory over Biddeford (2-2) at
Windham High School.
Garrett Clemmer and
the Windham offense got the scoring going early.
Clemmer hit the first two baskets of the game for
four of his game high 24 points. Andy Brix made it
7-2 when he was fouled scoring a basket, and hit the
free throw to complete the three point play. Adam
Szklany and Clemmer both scored to put Windham ahead
11-4.
Then Steve Lambert hit
a three pointer to start a 7-0 Windham run that
included Clemmer and Nolan Allen hitting two free
throws each to put Windham up 18-7 late in the first
quarter. Jackson Taylor joined in the scoring before
Clemmer closed out the first quarter scoring to put
the Eagles ahead 22-9.

Clemmer got the
scoring going again in the second, opening the
quarter with five straight points. Nolan Allen and
Brix chipped in with a basket each before Clemmer
capped the scoring again to put Windham ahead 33-20
at halftime.
Jackson Taylor got the
scoring started in the second half with a two
pointer, followed by five points by Clemmer,
including a three pointer. Nick Taylor added a
basket to put Windham ahead 42-29 before Junior Drew
Gagnon hit a three to make it 45-29 Windham. Lambert
hit a bucket before Jackson Taylor got into the
three point contest by hitting one from beyond the
arch to extend Windham's lead to 50-31. Clemmer
added his last two points of the night before Brix
hit a two-pointer to give Windham a 54-34 lead at
the end of the third quarter.

Gagnon scored again to
start the fourth quarter. Senior Dillon McGowan put
Windham ahead 58-38 before Lambert dropped a three
pointer with 4:30 left in the game. Biddeford scored
the next three points but McGowan got it back with a
swish from downtown to put Windham ahead 64-43.
Biddeford scored another two before Sophomore
standout Nolan Allen made a nifty drive to the hoop
that he finished off with an underhand floater. Brix
hit another two points, then Allen continued to
impress Eagles fans, scoring the last four Windham
points of the game. The game ended 72-47 when
Brandon Hodge blocked the last Biddeford shot as
time ticked away.
Windham coach Kevin
Millington said about his team's performance, "We
were really focused all week on team. Sharing the
ball and doing the little things, offensive
rebounding, playing good defense, talking to each
other and they did that tonight and we want to carry
that over to another game. We had gotten a little
stagnant, not doing the little things the last two
games and we got to get back to that and we did that
tonight."

The Eagles travel to
Ocean Ave in Portland to take on Cheverus on Friday.
When asked if he thought his team could build on
this win in that game Millington replied,
"Absolutely, we have a tall task against us Friday,
but we are excited about it so we will give them
everything we've got."
That task may have
gotten a little shorter when Cheverus standout point
guard Indiana Faithful (and Portland Center Jake
Alexander) were ejected for a scuffle between each
other. Both players will now miss their teams' next
game because of a mandatory one game suspension for
being ejected.
Make the short drive
to Cheverus High School on Friday and support your
Windham Eagles. |
