Portland
ME: Windham got back on the winning
track defeating the Cheverus Stags
41-24.
From the
opening tip-off, Windham dominated the
game, with a few exceptions. Joe
Francoeur sparked the Eagles early to
give them the first quarter lead by
eight points. Francoeur continued
adding in the second and was helped by
Vlad Yerkovich with six points and
brother Shawn with a basket to give the
Eagles a comfortable 12 point lead to
end the half.
The third
quarter was a short lived Stag rebound.
The Stags came out with full-court
pressure, forced turnovers, and
capitalized. They went on a ten point
run and then the air seemed to fill the
Eagles wings and the game turned.

After
scoring only five points in the third
quarter, the Eagles went on a tear and
scored 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Brad Carpentier came off the bench and
put in seven points for the Windham.
Isaac Gurney put in four. Joe Francoeur
added four free throws to notch his
total to 15 points to lead the Eagles in
scoring. Windham’s speedy transitional
game was key in sealing the victory.
