The match
was very closely played throughout. Of
Windham’s 12 players, nine contributed
to the score. With only a handful of
days play under their belt, Windham’s
team played very well.
With very
balanced play in the first half, the
Eagles were moving the ball well, but
were a little too aggressive in the
opinion of the referees. Windham got
into the bonus area after committing 7
fouls. Portland seemed more disciplined
in the first half. With Windham
dominating the first quarter, Portland
rallied to make it a one hoop game at
the half.

In the
second half, Portland’s discipline
seemed to vaporize as they committed 15
fouls against Windham. In the game,
Windham was fifty percent from the line
going 16 for 32. However, Windham’s
aggressive play on offense and defense
in the final three minutes widened the
gap and didn’t allow Portland any
points.

Calvin
Field goes up for the layup, makes
basket and draws the foul. Field would
have nine points on the day.
Top
scorers for Windham were Joe Francoeur,
14, Shawn Francoeur, 11, Calvin Field, 9
and Vlad Y., 6. With some of these
Eagles just flying in from the football
field, it doesn’t seem like it has taken
much to get them accustomed to round
play. We look forward to an exciting
season from this young squad.
