After a
subtle challenge, Windham’s First Team
took to Fitzpatrick Stadium and showed
the Bulldogs the Eagle style of play and
defeated them 33-6. Both teams were
undefeated entering today’s game.
Windham
started the game by receiving the
opening kickoff. Damien Shepard took
the first handoff 25 yards to move the
Eagles confidently down the field.
Calvin Field, entered, after being out
for four weeks recovering from a
concussion and passed to Josiah Purves
for an 11 yard gain to get another Eagle
first down. Windham then would move the
ball and be faced with a fourth and 4
yards. Colby Waterhouse came in and
looked to pass and would be intercepted
on the attempt. Portland took over on
their own eight yard line. The Windham
defense would loom large and force a
fumble. Jared Libby scooped up the ball
in the end zone to record six points for
the Eagles. Shawn Francoeur’s PAT kick
missed wide.

In the
second quarter, Portland was forced to
punt on fourth and 2. Windham took
possession on the Bulldog 44. Christian
Coons took the ball two times, the first
for nine yards, the second for 35 to put
another touchdown on the score board for
the Eagles. Coons then took the two
point conversion handoff to the end zone
to the Eagles up 14-0.
After the
kick off, Portland moved the ball into
Eagle territory. On fourth down with
three yards to go, Windham’s defense
held strong and took control on their
own 34 yard line. After the first play
and a penalty, Colby Waterhouse took the
ball 69 yards to put another six points
on the board for the Eagles. The
Bulldog defense stopped the two point
conversion, but Windham had the 20-0
lead going into the half.

Windham
kicked off to Portland to start the
second half and pinned the Bulldogs at
their own 11 yard line to get things
going. On third down with four yards to
go, Portland went to the air and got a
huge gain into Eagle territory. The
Eagle defense answered the call and took
over on downs. After successive
exchanges on downs, Portland had the
ball and was forced to punt. Windham
got called for roughing the kicker
which gave the Bulldogs a first down and
advanced field placement. Portland
immediately went to the air and #88
scrambled his way to the end zone to put
Portland on the board with six points.
Windham’s defense rose to stop the two
point conversion and held the Bulldogs
to six points.

In the
fourth quarter, Colby Waterhouse took
off from the Eagle 24 yard line and
found his way to the other end of the
field to answer Portland’s touchdown.
Windham attempted the two point
conversion but the Bulldog defense
answered the call. After the kickoff,
Portland’s offense seemed to get in the
groove and move the ball against the
powerful Eagle defense. On fourth down
and six yards to go, Portland converted
on a pass play. However, in the next
series, Jared Libby again found the
loose ball in the Bulldog backfield and
pounced on it to give the Eagles the
ball on their own 23 yard line. On the
first play, Colby Waterhouse took a
Calvin Field pitch 76 yards to the end
zone to put another six points on the
board for Windham. Shawn Francoueur
kicked the PAT successfully to cap the
Eagle scoring effort at 33.
