Windham’s
freshman squad continued to dominate its
counterparts by upending the Marshwood
Hawks in slippery conditions in Windham
58-8.
Even
though Windham won toss and elected to
receive, they didn’t get the slippery
pigskin on the kick off. Marshwood
recovered the ball on the Eagle 40 yard
line to start the game. Undaunted, the
Eagle defense, as it has done all season
long, rose to the task and stopped the
Hawk offense. The Eagles stopped
Marshwood at their own 34 on downs. It
took a penalty call and one play for the
Eagles to put points on the board.
Colby Waterhouse took the snap and
scampered 71 yards to put Windham on the
board. Shawn Francoeur successfully
kicked the PAT to make the score 7-0.

Windham
again, wasted no time as the defense
stopped the Hawks. Colby Waterhouse
aired out a beautiful pass to Damien
Shepard who took the reception 45 yards
for another quick Eagle touchdown.
Francoeur kicked another PAT to make the
score 14-0 with a handful of minutes
gone on the clock.
Windham
continued to show how football was
played. A Francoeur interception on the
Marshwood 23 yard line set up the next
touchdown. Dan Stewart took two carries
to put the ball in the end zone to add
another six to the board. Shawn
Francoeur would miss the PAT kick.
However, the Eagles continued. On the
ensuing kickoff, Windham would recover
the ball on the Hawk 28 yard line.
Christian Coons took the handoff on the
first play and scored. On the PAT kick
attempt, Coons yelled “Fire” and passed
to a waiting receiver to record two
points for the Eagles to make the score
28-0.

In the
second quarter, Windham’s domination
continued. Marshwood was forced to
punt. Windham capitalized on a bad snap
and took possession on the Hawk 14 yard
line. Dan Stewart took two carries to
get to the end zone. Shawn Francoeur
added the PAT kick to put Windham up
35-0.
Marshwood
tried to convert but the Windham defense
loomed large. Windham took over on the
Hawk 32 yard line. Dan Stewart took the
first hand off 28 yards. Shawn
Francoeur checked in as a running back
and took the ball four yards for another
Windham touchdown. On the ensuing PAT
kick attempt, the snap was fumbled and
Christian Coons found a receiver in the
end zone to record another two points
for the Eagles. The half time score was
43-0.

So,
Marshwood receives the ball in the third
quarter. The Eagles and Hawks swap
possessions. #22 Asa Ellis grabbed an
interception to put the Eagles in
possession as the third quarter was
close to being done. Dan Stewart again
took the ball to the end zone and
Francoeur booted the PAT to put the
Eagles up 50-0 at the end of 3 quarters.

Marshwood
was not out of the game. Wanting to
make a statement, they put together a
march that saw one advance gain 60 yards
in one play. Marshwood would score on a
7 yard running play. On the two point
conversion play, the Hawk running back
fumbled and recovered the slippery
pigskin in the end zone to give the
Hawks 8 points.
Windham,
wasn’t finished. With some of their
squad being called to the locker room
for the ensuing JV game, the Eagles
continued to pour the offense on.
Josiah Purves took a handoff 45 yards to
the end zone. The Eagles again
converted a two point conversion to
finish with 58 points.
Catch the
next game on Thursday against Bonny
Eagle.
