A total
team effort was displayed at Windham
today as Windham defeated the Cheverus
Stags 34-0.
Windham
won the toss and elected to receive.
Windham started in their own territory
and quickly moved the ball up the field.
On third
and seven, Damien Shepard scampered 25
yards for the first down. On the next
play, a bad snap forced quarterback
Calvin Field to run the ball and he
advanced 14 yards for another first
down. On the next play, Field connected
with Jordin Allen for a 30 yard pass
completion touchdown. Shawn Francoeur
booted the extra point.
Windham
gained possession again by forcing
Cheverus to punt after three plays.
The Eagles took possession on the Stag
44 yard line. On fourth and 12, Damien
Shepard carried the ball for 25 yards to
give Windham a first down, only to be
called back on a block in the back
penalty. So, Windham, fourth and five,
Field attempts pass to Coons but is
incomplete, giving Cheverus the ball.
Windham’s
defense again looms large and forces
Cheverus to punt after three plays.
Colby Waterhouse took two hand offs for
a total of 39 yards to put Windham on
the board again. The PAT snap was low
and covered by Calvin Field.

After the
Windham kickoff, Marinus Madsen recovers
a Cheverus fumble to give the Eagles
possession on the Stag 46. The Eagles
put together a very efficient drive
behind Colby Waterhouse, Christian Coons
and Calvin Field. Waterhouse started
with 26 yard carry, Coons added a 9
yarder, then Field rambled for 6 on a
keeper and Waterhouse finished the drive
with a QB keeper of his own for a four
yard touchdown. Shawn Francoeur kicked
the PAT to make the score 20-0.
After the
Eagle kick off, Cheverus is stifled by
the Eagle defense again and tries to
convert on fourth and 9. The Eagles
stopped the attempt and took over on
their own 49. Windham quickly converted
on Colby Waterhouse’s 51 yard touchdown
run and Shawn Francoeur added the PAT to
make the score 27-0.

In the
second half, the Eagle defense was
effective in controlling the Stag
assault. Damien Shepard received a deep
Cheverus punt and returned it 50 yards
to give Windham possession at the Stage
34 yard line. After a short run play,
quarterback Calvin Field found newly
converted receiver Jake Perry in the
middle and threw him a pass which saw
him take to the end zone. Shawn
Francoeur again hit the PAT kick to give
Windham the lead 34-0. Windham would
hold off the Stags and record their
first victory of the season.

Varsity action Saturday at 12:30 in
