The Windham 5th grade
boys travel team overcame an early deficit and
prevailed 33-28 in a physical contest over a tough
Freeport team at Freeport Middle School.
In the first half, the Freeport team stormed out to
an early lead with an uptempo offense that scored
early and often. The Windham team was able to stay
in the game behind the solid play of Zack Hough who
led the Windham team with a game high 7 points. The
Windham team trailed by the score of 21-15 heading
into the half.
The Eagles stormed back in the second half with
tremendous team defense that shut down the Freeport
team. Spencer Sampson provided the offense spark
that put the Windham Eagles into the lead. The
Windham team held Freeport to only 7 second half
points as they outscored the opposition in the
second half by a margin of 18 – 7.
The Windham boys
played hard up until the very end as they held off a
very physical Freeport team to win by the score of
33 – 28. The Windham team will have a week off and
then resume their schedule against Gray/New
Gloucester on December 20.
