Windham
ME: Windham (5-2) came back from behind
to defeat Cheverus (5-2) 34-28 in
Windham.
Windham
fell behind early in the game, fumbling
the opening kickoff which Cheverus
converted on the same play.

Shortly
thereafter, Cheverus again converted and
the score was 14-0 early in the first
quarter.

It didn’t
look good for the Eagles, but it seemed
some Red Sox magic rubbed off. Jack
Mallis finally found the end zone for
the Eagles and the PAT was good to get
the Eagles on the board.
In the
second quarter Cheverus and Windham
traded touchdowns. Andrew Posten scored
on a 10 yard pass.

Windham
wasted no time in advancing the ball
after the kick off. Jackson Taylor
found Nate Dickson on a pass play that
advanced the Eagles 60 yards. Facing
fourth down with 5 yards to go, Taylor
again passed to Dickson to get the first
down. Jack Mallis took the ball in from
three yards out and the PAT kick was
good. Windham played good defense and
went into the half down by a touchdown.

The Eagles
kicked off to the Stags to start the
third quarter. Windham’s defense
stifled the Cheverus offense and force a
punt.
On the
first offensive play, Windham fumbled
the ball and lost control. The Stags
seized the opportunity and ran the ball
in on their first play to make the score
28-14.

However,
the Eagles didn’t seem bothered by the
mishap and quickly moved down the field
with Taylor again finding Nate Dickson
on a 31 yard pass and eventually Jack
Mallis ran six yards for the score. The
PAT kick was good to bring Windham back.

Windham’s
defense loomed large on the next round
of play. They pushed the Stag offense
back to force fourth and twenty deep in
the Stag zone. Cheverus opted to punt
and Windham capitalized with David
Ingraham’s punt and recovery in the end
zone to give the Eagles another six
points. The PAT kick was good to tie
the game at 28.
Windham
wasn’t done. The defense again was
stellar and forced a punt on fourth
down. Jack Mallis scored his fourth
touchdown to put the Eagles ahead by
six. The PAT was no good.

After the
kickoff, defense was key again. The
Eagles gained possession with 1:20
left. The Stags used their remaining
time outs to force Windham to turn over
the ball. Windham drained the clock to
35 seconds and used its final time out.
Tucker Miller punted the ball 70 yards
to put Cheverus deep in its own zone.
The Stags tried four passing plays and
were unsuccessful.
Jackson
Taylor came in and took a knee with
eight seconds left to give the Eagles
the win.
