THREE WINDHAM BOYS
PLAYERS QUALIFY FOR STATE SINGLES TOURNAMENT
May 18, 2008
By Sally Enoch
On Monday May 18, all three singles players from
the Windham Boys varsity tennis team advanced in
the M.P.A. Western Maine Singles Qualifying
Tournament. Nate Johnson, Dan Crocker and Dan
McGovern will all go on to compete in the state
singles tournament Friday May 30 at Bates
College in Lewiston.
Coach Wayne Martin could not be more pleased.
"This is the first time Windham has qualified
all 3 entries--not to mention that they're all
sophomores. This is quite an accomplishment for
these young athletes."
Jenna Willey and Stacey Neidoroda from the girls
squad have qualified as well, so Windham will
have a total of five representatives at the
tournament.
The Windham boys are now 10-0 as they approach
their final--and toughest--opponents of the
season in Cheverus (8-2) and Scarborough (10-0).
Windham, currently at the top of the Western
Class A division, expects to go deep into the
post-season.
