The 8th Grade Boys suffered their first loss of the season against Cape Elizabeth 40-33.

The Cape squad outnumbered Windham 12-7.  They used their numbers and height in battling the Eagles.  Windham led for most of the first half but Cape’s tall squad evened it up to close the half at 19.

The tall squad came out to start the second half and wasted little time in putting points on the board.  Windham seemed to shoot wildly and couldn’t rebound given the height disadvantage.  As luck would have it, Windham’s Brad Carpentier quickly rang up four fouls and was pulled from the game with four minutes left as Windham started a run to narrow Cape’s lead.

Cape’s subs came in and Windham took advantage.  Short lived, the tall squad again came in and stifled the come back.  Cape keyed on number 00 who loomed large under the hoop and in one play had three rebounds and three shots before finally putting the ball through the net.

There was little Windham could do to stop the height advantage and the game ended 40-33.  Jake Perry led the Windham squad with 7 points.  Isaac Gurney and Jordin Allen followed with 6 and Dylan Weisser, Calvin Field and Spencer Noel each had four apiece.

Catch the Eagles next Sunday at 10:05 in Yarmouth as they square off against Lake Region.

Windham is a good team. This was a great experience for them, playing taller players. Lots of "food for thought" in developing a strategy for the next time it happens....good story and presentation!
