BOMBETTS MAKE IT TO AAU MAINE STATE FINALS
April 30, 2008
The Bombetts
made it to the state finals before losing
31-23 to a very talented Firecracker team.
The Bombetts
are made up mostly of Windham and Lake
Region players and are coached by Windham
residents; Mike Russell and Stacy Batchelder.
The team has
been playing together for about two months
and practices twice a week at Manchester
School in Windham.
Coach Russell
said, "The girls played hard and did
everything we asked them to do. They stuck
to the game plan and even though we lost,
the girls made us proud for the way they
handled themselves in defeat. Nobody left
with there head hanging low, they felt good
about their effort as did the coaches. We
don't just teach basketball with the
Bombetts we teach the girls to be positive
no matter what the situation is and to
support there teammate when they are down.
In order to have fun in any sport you have
to love what you do and it is very clear
that these girls love what they do and that
makes it that much easier."
The
Firecracker team is made up of mostly
Falmouth and Scarborough players.
Congratulations to both teams for a great
run in the tournament.
