18-6 defeat of Gorham

GORHAM ME: Windham’s B
squad took its time to defeat the junior
Grizzlies 18-6 in MS action Sunday
afternoon.

Windham won the toss and
elected to receive the ball. They took
little time to convert the possession into
points. Tony Taylor ran the ball six yards
to give Windham the initial lead. The
Eagles came up with the ball again and were
stopped on the Grizzly one yard line.
Gorham wasted no time in putting points on
the board. After a few plays, they went to
their power back #58 Eddie Weymouth. Eddie
took the ball and powered his way through
the Windham defense and rambled 80 yards for
Gorham’s only points on the afternoon.

In the second half, the
Eagles
Ryan Schweitzer intercepted a pass.
That set up a

seven yard touchdown. The two point
conversion was foiled.

The Windham defense
mirrored their senior class and continued to
hold strong. The Eagles got possession
and Jordan Harmon took a handoff from
Garrick Rogers to score Windham’s final
touchdown with 2:26 left in the game. The
Grizzly defense held off the two point
conversion.

After the kickoff, the
Gorham offense tried several plays to move
the ball. On a pass play, Windham’s
Norman Watson caught the ball with ten
seconds left to seal the game for the junior
Eagles.
Catch the Eagles next
week as they take on Kittery on the High
School Field on Saturday night.
