Windham-Windham’s B Squad Football team
showed determination in slippery
conditions on Field 9 in its 8-0 victory
over the Junior Scots from Bonny Eagle.

Windham
won the toss and elected to receive the
ball. However, the first half was a
battle between the two squads just to
move the ball. After three downs, the
ball was slippery and the punter would
have problems handling the ball.
Quarterbacks were struggling with hikes
and handoffs and the visibility
deteriorated as the fogged thickened as
the game wore on. Windham Tailback,
Reyanne Matthews
(AOW), fumbled the ball in
the first quarter on her second carry of
the game. However, she would later
redeem herself. Despite the hard
physical play, both teams ended the half
deadlocked at zero.

In the
second half, Bonny Eagle took the kick
off and looked like it might make a move
to score, but Windham would hold.
Windham would call on
#42, Reyanne
Matthews, and she would answer. Windham
drove the ball down the field and
Reyanne would carry the ball for the one
yard trip to the end zone to give the
Eagles the lead. She would then carry
three yards to give the Eagles two
points on the conversion. For the day,
Reyanne ran 77 yards on 15 carries.

The Scots
were not ready to give up. As the
fourth quarter marched on, so did the
Scots in a shotgun style offense, mixing
up running plays and passing plays.
With about 1:20 on the clock, Kyle
Dumond caught a ball between two Bonny
Eagle players and was awarded possession
after the whistle and struggle. That
key interception sealed the game for the
junior Eagles.
