Windham - Even though the Eagles lost the toss in
the pre-game, they quickly showed their power in
their 42-0 victory against Scarborough.
The
win will pit Windham against Saco next weekend in
Windham for the SMYFL Championship game.

After Windham kicked off, on second down, Nick
Sundquist intercepted the ball and ran down to the
Storm six yard line. After a few plays,
Calvin Field
(AOW)
crossed the line to put the Eagles on the board.
Shawn Francoeur
(AOW)
kicked the first of four PAT kicks of the day.

On
the ensuing kick off, Christian Coons dove on the
ball and fought for possession on the Scarborough 34
yard line. Damien Shepard
(AOW)
took the first hand off all the way and
Shawn Francoeur
(AOW)
notched the second of his four to put the Eagles
quickly ahead 14-0 in the first quarter.

However, the Red Storm possession was quickly halted
after Damien Shepard
(AOW)
intercepted a pass and ran the ball down to the 13
yard line. After a handful of plays and two
questionable delays of game penalties against the
Eagles, Damien Shepard
(AOW)
ran in an eight yard touchdown.
Colby Waterhouse
(AOW)
ran in the two point conversion.

advancing,

Scarborough’s next possession looked like they would
be forced to punt, but on fourth down, they kicked
and the Eagles were called for a roughing the kicker
penalty. On the next fourth and 3, Windham’s
defense loomed large and stopped the Scarborough
first down attempt.

The
Eagle’s offense took control and marched down the
field.

pitched to
Waterhouse
(AOW)
who threw a pass to Damien Shepard
(AOW)
for a 34 yard touch down reception.
Shawn Francoeur
(AOW)
kicked number three PAT to make the score 29-0.

On
the kick off, the Red Storm running back found the
end zone. However, due to a facemask penalty, the
touchdown was denied and the Storm took over and
Windham’s defense again made quick work to force the
turnover on downs. Windham again took the ball down
the field and Christian Coons recovered his own
fumble in the end zone to record the touchdown. The
PAT kick was blocked. The half-time score was 35-0.

Scarborough was not going to give up and on the
second half opening kick off, recovered the ball
after a player tipped it trying to get control.
Enough can’t be said of the Windham defense as they
again forced the possession on downs to take
control. Damien Shepard
(AOW)
scored his third touchdown on the day on an 8 yard
run and
Shawn Francoeur
(AOW)
kicked his fourth PAT kick to put the Eagles up
42-0. The Eagles would swap possessions with the
Storm and would hold on to win.
Catch the Eagles next weekend as they host number
two seed Saco at the HS Stadium for the
SMYFL Championship Game. Come out and enjoy
some great football and support your community
football program!
