GORHAM ME: Windham’s
strong offense and defense controlled this
game despite incurring penalties and
prevailed 28-0 in
SMFYL action.
Windham lost the toss and
opened the game with an unusual kickoff
formation that quickly swarmed the ball
carrier. The defense held Gorham on its
first possession after trying to convert on
fourth and six yards. On the Eagle second
offensive play,
Colby Waterhouse
(AOW) scampered 62 yards to
put them on the board.
Shawn Francoeur kicked the PAT.

Gorham tried again on
fourth and four and Windham’s defense
prevented them from getting the first down.
Again, on second down,
Christian Coons broke out and ran 36
yards for an Eagle touchdown.
Shawn Francoeur kicked the extra point
to give Windham the 14-0 lead.
On the kickoff,
Joe Francoeur recovered the loose ball
for the Eagles. That set up a

Grizzly defense.

The Gorham offense
continued to be stifled by the Windham
defense.
Joe Francoeur sacked the quarterback to
create fourth and twenty. Windham took over
on their own 42 yard line. Windham fumbled
the snap on fourth down to give the
Grizzly’s possession.

The Eagle defense stepped
up and stopped the Gorham advance and
Calvin Field tipped a pass on fourth
down to give the Eagles possession. The
first half was concluded.
The Windham offense was
stopped after the opening kickoff. Then, a
series of penalties would put Windham deep
in their defensive zone. On fourth and 30,
Nick Sundquist intercepted a pass and ran
for a touchdown, only to have it called back
on a penalty and give the Grizzlies first
down. Again, the Eagle defense stood strong
and on fourth and 20 a flag for roughing the
passer gave Gorham another first down. The
Eagles again held strong and on fourth and
eight,
Colby Waterhouse
(AOW)
tackled the Gorham
running back to give Windham the possession.

Gorham the ball on a Josiah Purves fumble.
The Windham defense was called to action
again.
Joe Francoeur sacked the quarterback on
fourth down deep in the zone. On the first
play from the line of scrimmage,
Colby Waterhouse
(AOW)
bolted 71 yards for
Windham’s final touchdown. Waterhouse
finished the day with 157 yards and three
touchdowns.
