York-Windham’s MS squad
defeated number one ranked York 32-0 today
in a rain-soaked contest. The win should
put Windham as the number one seed in
SMFYL ranking.

Damien
Shepard
(AOW)
intercepted the ball. Here he gets hit
advancing the ball and it is knocked loose.
Christian Coons would recover the ball.

Windham lost the toss to
start the game but it wouldn’t take long
before they got the ball. Damien Shepard
(AOW)
would come up with an interception, but
given the conditions, would fumble the ball
and team mate
Christian Coons would recover.
Colby Waterhouse would
fumble on his first carry and turn the ball
over.
Christian Coons
again would come up with the loose ball to
give Windham super field position. Damien
Shepard
(AOW)
would run in a six yard touchdown to get
points on the board. The two point
conversion would be stopped by the York
Wildcats.

Turnovers were the theme
of the day as both teams struggled to
maintain control in the sloppy conditions.
On York’s possession, they would be held to
minimal yards and forced to punt.
Colby Waterhouse caught the punt and
advanced the ball but a flag was thrown. In
the opinion of the officials, he signaled
fair catch and advanced the ball. The
penalty cost the Eagles fifteen yards from
the catch and had them deep in their own
zone.

The Eagles regrouped and
pounded the ball down the field with a
mixture of passing and running plays.
Colby Waterhouse would scamper 25 yards
for the second touchdown. The two point
conversion was again foiled.
On York’s next
possession,
Shawn Francoeur would find a slippery
ball bouncing around the turf and pounce on
it at the Wildcat 34 yard line to set up
their next score. Damien Shepard
(AOW)
would run in a three yard touch down to give
the Eagles an 18-0 lead going into the half.

In the second half,
Windham received the ball and
Christian Coons
would run the ball several times and finally
would get to the end zone. He would also
add the two point conversion to give the
Eagles a 26-0 lead.

The mud fest continued
into the fourth quarter as the Eagles
continued to dominate defensively and never
allowed York past the 50 yard line. York
would punt the ball deep and Windham would
stay away from the ball and take control at
their own 22.

one yard, bursts through the line and
charges 41 yards for Windham's fifth TD.

Again, the Eagles would
put on the “Mud March” and move across mid
field. Faced with fourth down and a short 1
yard on the York , Coach Coons called a QB
keep.
Calvin Field took the ball not only
across the line of scrimmage, but the whole
distance to put another six points on the
board for the Eagles.
Windham would stop York
on the Wildcat 40 yard line and finish the
game with the ball in Eagle possession.
Catch the Eagles next
Sunday in neighboring Gorham.
