After swapping
a few shots late in the first quarter,
Windham’s Nicole Ross would put Windham on
the board to take them into the half.
Through out the first half, McAuley seemed
to have the better chances and finally
things began to click for the Eagles as the
half wore on. Ross nailed the goal and it
went like a laser past the McAuley keeper.
At the half, the keeper told her coach that
she barely even saw the ball.

In the second
half, the competition seemed to heat up a
little as Windham tried to put distance
between them and the persistent Lions.
Freshman Meaghan Gribbin scored her first
varsity goal and Windham seemed poised to
take control. However, the McAuley Lions
were not going to go without a battle.

A few minutes
later, McAuley freshman Shelby Bryant broke
away and beat Windham keeper Jackie
Lorentzen to put the Lions on the board. A
few minutes after that, Bryant crossed to
Jen Field after Lorentzen tipped it and
Field gently left-footed the ball past the
prone keeper to tie the game. It seemed
that the wind had left the Eagles’ wings;
however, it was short lived.

The two teams
battled to the end of regulation and a five
minute overtime session commenced. Windham
won the toss and elected the ball. It
didn’t take long for Jen Levine to find the
net and put the Eagles past the Lions to end
a great game.
In Junior
Varsity action, the Windham Eagles defeated
the McAuley Lions 2-0.
