Fall is the
greatest season of the year. The air gets crisp,
apples need to be picked and the grass even
smells better. Maybe my affection for fall
sports, specifically football and soccer that
has something to do with the last item.
For high school
students, parents, athletic boosters and alumni;
fall also means homecoming. That one weekend
each year when all of the town's school sports
teams play at home and the school colors are
being displayed with pride.
In Windham that
meant there was maroon and white everywhere.
Walking around the High School complex Saturday
morning before the homecoming parade we saw
maroon and white on everything from clothing,
faces, died hair, signs and on the windows of
too many vehicles to count.
Homecoming brings
out community pride in just about everyone. We
took some pictures from the homecoming parade,
beginning with the Grand Marshall John
Gallagher.
